pparently, Jessica Hische, the graphic designer who designed the drop caps I use on many of my posts also designed the latest Barnes & Noble leatherbound classics, pictured below. I discovered this while reading her interview with Method & Craft, and just thought I’d mention it since I love her work.

book cover spotlight: penguin deluxe classics, volume 2
ith six new Penguin Deluxe Classics coming out in the next few months, I’ve decided to revisit Penguin for this week’s spotlight. Some sources say these are all coming out late October, but other sources say October, December, and February. We shall soon find out I suppose. For now enjoy these updated editions of The Communist Manifesto, The Canterbury Tales, and Great Expectations.
book cover spotlight: faber & faber
ritish publisher Faber and Faber has some ridiculously gorgeous covers. They also have a flickr account dedicated to said gorgeousness. The following covers make me wish I actually cared more about poetry. But alas, that was not meant to be. Enjoy these covers regardless.

hese Penguin Hardcover editions of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s most famous works, designed by Coralie Bickford-Smith are gorgeous. The perfect gift for any Fitzgerald aficionado.

ast week I presented six contemporary works with a distinctly vintage feel. This week, I bring you covers that have become iconic. These are the sorts of covers you’ll see mounted up on the walls of Barnes and Noble. Some of these works have been re-issued with their original covers (updated marginally, to include mention of a new preface or anniversary), and it’s possible in some cases I’ve actually posted the re-issue rather than the original, but I think you get the basic point.
